Description
|
"Bills. Bread. Cash. Dinero. Dough. Loot. Moolah. Cha-Ching. Money.
As the song says, "A Mark, a Yen, a Buck, or a Pound is all that makes the world go around, that clinking Clanking sound, can make the world go around."
But, what IS money? - Where does it come from?
- How does it get its value?
- How does it reflect what the community values, conceptually and artistically?
- Does anyone or any group have enough of it?
Did you know that you can, legally, make your own money?
What kind of money would you make?"
Question: "Can you plan an alternative money system to help you to raise the money your community needs?"

What makes this an interesting WebQuest
|
- This is a very engagingly written, graphically well-presented, and thoroughly researched / developed WebQuest.
- This approach and topic must be something decidedly different for most economics students.
- The Teacher's Page is outstandingly detailed so that others really could implement the WebQuest for a range of uses and Standards.
- Creative use of Insight Reflectors at both ends of the activity.
- The use of questions and related "how-to" resources challenge high school students to construct their own meaning. Less motivated / creative students may benefit from a product template that more explicitly guides them through constructing a plan.
- In the company of her previous Coming Soon to a School Near You: A Project on Youth Gangs this Alternative Money WebQuest further establishes Janice's place as one of the very top rank of WebQuest developers.
- In the interests of transparency, Janice made fairly minor modifications to this WebQuest as a participant in BWQU - BestWebQuests University.
